Pictures.

Every once in a while, I like taking pictures of things. Especially of things like clouds and sunsets and rain. (This probably explains why I keep my camera in the car.)

I took a few from that big-ass storm we had last week (the one that lasted several days ... damn, that was just last week?). These were taken on Tuesday, while waiting in the long line of cars to get out of the Ag parking lot:

And another one today of the clouds (this getting off on the Main St offramp in Templeton) ... although I really like the lighting in this one, especially bouncing off the freeway sign:

And finally, the sunset tonight when I got home:

The full set (there are a few more pictures in a similar vein), including higher-res versions, can be found here.

[Please note that these are not permanent links; I'll probably move my photos once I get around to organizing/triaging them and actually setting up a gallery program on my webserver (as opposed to the hack I have right now).]

Stupid high-availability of cameras....*everyone* is a photographer now-a-days. :)

I don't know as I'd call myself a photographer.

I just happen to own a semi-non-crappy camera and enjoy taking pictures of everything. I can't bring the art to it that a lot of them can. ;P

I like to call myself a photographer, but then again, I personally think all my pictures suck and have no art to them whatsoever. :)

But hell, who am I to judge my own work.... ;-)

It's from Crest of the Stars, which is an Anime show I like.

Haven't a clue about it, but I like the icon. I figured it was anime, just didn't know if I should know it or not. *laughs* *hugs*

I learned my lesson the hard way that I should keep my camera with me at all times last night. I mean, who gets to see an F18 up close and touchably personal, tour given impromptu by the fighter pilot himself? The photo op of the century, especially as we stood next to the runway and saw (FELT!) it take off.. it moved like a living, breathing thing, and the flame from the afterburners was something I'll never forget.
And I didnt have my camera. I go nowhere without it now.

I'm a huge fan of sunsets and you captured that one magnificently. THe colour saturation of the first one especially.. those pastels and the lonely violets. Wonderful job!

In a word: w00t. I've had more than my fair share of naval/army/air force tours (mostly navy), but I don't think I've ever seen a fighter take off, up close and personal.

Thanks. :) I'm lucky enough to have such a view from my apartment (it's the first thing I see every evening when I pull into my driveway). I've been looking for an opportune moment to take a picture like that, and that particular sunset just happened to present itself.

There's perks to being at the airport as often as I am, I guess. And I just got hired to work in the FBO where this particular pilot came in, so there will be more opportunities. YAY!

Wow. That is incredible. Talk about a room with a view : )
