w000t! Paranoia, here I come...

I finally got IPsec setup on my wireless network, thanks to the help of kion...it was an absolute pain to get setup, but I think it was worth it. IPsec is incredibly picky on how it wants things done...and the documentation isn't particularly helpful either.

But, I'm a happy geek now...because I can sit on my laptop and do things like login to LJ without having to worry as much about whether or not my traffic is getting sniffed. Although, I really wish they would add SSL support...it would make me (and probably everyone else) feel a whole lot safer about submitting their ramblings.

Still, IPsec is gooood pie, especially for wireless networks.

Now, to get that #tm VPN setup...

Wow. It sure is a good thing everything is secure while you post to livejournal because you sure don't want anyone sniffing those packets and...uhm...reading your posts before you actually post them....

Right... because everyone makes public, non-protected posts every time.

Right...because, uhm, YEAH, I don't want people reading my LJ posts before they're submitted...

What? No, no, it doesn't have anything to do with monkey pr...HEY! Wait a minute! How'd you find out about that?!?

Damn. Guess IPsec came a little too late.

(just kidding)

Hmmm...assuming you used this key to sign your message, the signature doesn't work...I don't know whether to blame you, or LiveJournal. ;)

Oh, sure, be geeky and check the damned thing. ;)

It works, you just have to check it against the source text, including the anchor tag verbatim (but not including the markup LJ inserted after comment submission, e.g. BR tags).

What, you thought I wouldn't check?!?

Sheesh...you never can be too complacent about these things. I mean, suppose some evil clone variant of you decided to hijack your LJ account and post that comment. Just tell me, how am I supposed to know that? Why, by checking your PGP signature, of course, how else??? And then, if the sig came up bad, I'd know that--

Heyyy, wait a minute. You *are* an evil clone, aren't you?!?

I knew it...you're planning to steal devpreed and take him up to Washington with you!

"I knew it...you're planning to steal devpreed and take him up to Washington with you!"

Well, evil or no, there's nothing sub rosa about that part of the plan. :)
