Next question...

Dear Lazyweb,

Are there any good portable music players that know how to play Ogg? Everyone has an iPod, but iPods are pricey and fail at Ogg.

I want a player I can throw my collection on (whether it's Ogg or MP3) and play in the car.

<3, Des

My iAudio M3 plays oggs and mp3s just fine, and has a rather big HD (20 or 40GB). I'm sure the newer models are even better.

Where did you buy yours?

Amazon.com, I think. Although at this point they might be harder to find since they're so old. I'd recommend taking a look at the newer models. (M5, etc)

Ton has an iAudio that he loves, it's not one of the expensive ones either-- and it plays ogg files. It doesn't state that prominently in the manual but it does play them.

Cool, thanks.

Two recs are good -- certainly strengthens the position of the iAudio. ;)

Ton is making me take dictation and send this to you. Sorry for the spam! But he's ...I'll leave that alone...

Thought about a little Epia motherboard with big hard drive, runs off 12v, wifi network card, usb, linux setup...the whole deal. Only problem would be a display but...could be a sweet small setup.

/Ton's geek out

OMG. He's still rambling but that's all I'm typing. GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

hehehe.

Yeah, I've thought about it, and might do it eventually, but (a) it's rather expensive in both time and money, and (b) I'd like to get at least a week before ripping apart my car... ;)

(...which I would do, if I were going the onboard computer route. I have a friend that did that -- music, GPS, mobile internet (GPRS), etc. Works really well for him, but he put a *lot* of time and effort into it, and had his car torn apart for a while so he could put things like a display in the center dash.)

I want to do that to my car as well. I'm thinking I'll put a mac-mini in there. I actually thought about doing that for my senior project too. :)

Actually, I want a new car first. One of those new Jeep Wrangler 4-doors. Mmmmm.....
