I can now say I've changed my own oil, thanks to yelang, and his massive quantity of car-related tools.

I owe him dinner or something.

I'm kinda surprised that's your first oil change. Pretty easy isn't it ^^

Wasn't that bad. Shiro had a couple things that make it hard (have to remove the underbelly pan to get at the oil filter, for instance -- and the oil filter itself is a bitch to remove)... but not bad at all. yelang also had tools that made things a lot easier.

Never had time/tools to do it myself, otherwise. And my dad's position on it was "I've done plenty of changes myself, they're a pain in the ass... don't know why anyone would want to bother.", so he had neither the tools nor the inclination to teach me.

That's too bad. My dad's position was "this is really frickin easy, learn how to do it"

Sadly I have not the tools up here to do it (need a jack and an oilpan)

Heh, odd, because I've never *not* changed my oil (or at least had someone help me...). The oil filters always seem really hard to get at for me though...seems like every car I've owned, they've put it in some out of the way place.:P
