Our family's cat, Phoebe, died last night.

I'm sort of in shock, still.

She had a seizure -- she'd had one before, at Christmas, but recovered fully. Then she was perfectly fine until she had another one last night... and I don't even want to think about what happened. It was over in less than 5 minutes; we figured out later she had passed on before we could even make it into the car.

I broke 95 on the freeway to the vet, but ultimately it didn't matter. There is nothing we could have done.

Phoebe, we miss you. :( Thank you so much for being in our lives.

*hugs* Yeah. Losing a family member, even a feline one, is never fun.

With Oberon, we at least had some warning. In Phoebe's case... none. Not that you can ever be truly prepared for such a thing.

Aw, honey. I'm so very sorry. We have them for such a short time and they make such a huge impact on our lives.

They do, and I wouldn't for one minute trade my time with Phoebe--or hell, any of my other lost kitties--for the world.

I miss her very much, but I am still grateful to have had her in my life.

Thank you.

It's at least somewhat comforting to know that it was over very quickly, and even if she was scared, she wasn't in pain. And I'm so grateful that I was at my parents' last night -- any number of things could have prevented me from going over there, or staying as long as I did, but I was there and she died surrounded by her family, in her mommy's arms.

Being there to tell her goodbye was a comfort to her as well as for you. She felt loved.

Even so, I wouldn't trade the time we did have for the world. It's so hard to let go, but they give you so much.

I would like to say time fixes it all... but it only dulls it. :( My Roxie passed 7 years ago about 10 days ago, and it is still a very depressing day for me.

I have been told they are still trying to figure out how much they effect us in our lives, but "they" must have never had a "loved" pet.
