On Meditation

I have the feeling that I'm just sort of...disconnected. Watching my life, and the lives of those around me, pass right on by.

And yet, there is this circle of Zen calm around me. The feeling of just letting things happen, not really reacting to anything, but noting it all with a sense of calmness and peace. Not indifferent, but...accepting.

I am the ancient Sequoia, once part of a large forest, now sitting in the middle of the suburbs. Around me there is chaos, order, destruction, creation, happiness and sadness. I am aware of it all, yet the matters of mere mortals trouble me not.

It is but a passing feeling, which comes to me only very rarely. But I cherish it all the same.
