Today, Iraq; Oceania is at war with Eastasia.

Tomorrow, could it be Eurasia?

Or (dare I say it)...the world?

I'm just waiting for the Ministry of Love to declare martial law.

No thanks to the Ministry of Truth's antics, we won't even know for sure what's going to happen.

You know something is wrong when you're living in an atmosphere of fear...not of terrorism, but of your own government.

I feel for the Iraqi citizens...I think Saddam needs to step down, and stand trial for what he's done. I don't know that the US is justified in taking him out (my main concern is the collateral damage to Iraq and its people), but I'm glad he's at least being dealt with, even if the people up top really screwed up.

But what I fear, even more than Saddam, even more than the terrorists, is George Dubya Bush. I fear what this country is becoming (a police state). With such laws as the Patriot Act and the DMCA, words like "freedom" and "liberty" mean nothing in this country. Now, when I hear these words, I become afraid...because I don't know what my government may try to shove down my throat next.

This country was a great stood for those ideals. But no longer. For the record, I have absolutely no faith in our current leadership, nor do I any longer have faith in our system of government. Congress and the Pres"uhhh"dent have demonstrated that the Constitution means nothing. The courts have demonstrated that they will allow the legislators to walk all over it. What, then, is left?

I think I hear the Ministry of Love knocking...
